I'm Back! Review: EOS Natural Series V304 3-Tone Grey Lenses from Dull to Doll

Sunday, October 20, 2013

Wooh! Hey guys! It's been ages since I've posted. Did you miss me?

I'm on my graduating year in college so you can pretty much imagine how much I've had on my plate. I also had to prepare for my trip to Korea last week for a poster presentation of my thesis, so that was a hectic yet fun part of my hiatus as well.

But no worries! I'm back. This post is long overdue and I owe it to my wonderful sponsor from Dull to Doll to have this post up! Especially considering it's these lenses that I used almost everyday on my trip to Korea.

EOS Natural Series V304 3-Tone Grey Contact Lenses from Dull to Doll Review

Yehp! These lenses from EOS have become one of my biggest faves. The Natural Series of EOS is one I've been eyeing for a while now (no pun intended). I think I've mentioned a while back that though I appreciate enlargement, I'm not entirely fond of it for lenses I like wearing on a day-to-day basis. So these lenses in V304 3-Tone Grey are absolutely perfect when you want to add that depth to your eyes without too much enlargement.

Miss Val from Dull to Doll was kind enough to send me these lenses for review and they were packaged so cutely and came safe to my doorstep :)

EOS Natural Series V304 3-Tone Grey Contact Lenses from Dull to Doll Review

Enlargement
These lenses are 14.2 mm in diameter, which is still larger than the average iris, so while it's the best for dolly-eye enlargement, it's enough of an increase to make your eyes look more awake and lively :) So a small diameter isn't really a bad thing. It makes these lenses much easier to wear with even light makeup or no makeup at all :)

Color and Design
I'm totally in love with grey lenses lately and the 3-Tone design gives the eye a lot more depth. I wish tjat the brown in the center near the iris were a little daker so it would blend in more into my natural eye color, but other than that I love the color.

The design, however, like a lot of EOS lenses in general, is really pixel-y. So up close, the lenses look quite unnatural. From afar, however, the striated design looks very natural and people may even mistake you for being mixed-race because of the unique grey design ahaha. Because there is little to no limbal ring, it's also much less vampy and more wearable than most lenses.

EOS Natural Series V304 3-Tone Grey Contact Lenses from Dull to Doll Review

Excuse my bushy brows in the above pic. I took these on different days and this was after my trip to Korea, not having been able to groom for awhile x_x

Comfort and Wear
These lenses are so-so when it comes to lenses. I don't have very sensitive eyes, so I was able to pull-off wearing these lenses for 8 hours (and even while enjoying some Korean BBQ), but I can definitely see these lenses being more drying and irritating for people with more sensitive eyes. I recommend a drop of Eye-Mo or two every other hour for better wear :)

Review: GEO Angel Grey (CM 835) Contact Lenses from MapleLens.com

Friday, August 23, 2013

Hey guys! I'm back with another contact lens review! Don't worry, this will be the last in a while (unless I happen to get another pair hehe).

So I've been having this little love affair with grey lenses lately. I usually go for brown because of my natural eye color, but I find that grey lenses suit me just as well. These GEO Angel Grey (CM 835) lenses have been on my wishlist for quite a while now and the awesome people of MapleLens.com were kind enough to make one of my wishes come true haha. These are now currently one of my all-time faves at the moment

Review on GEO Angel Grey (CM 835) Contact Lenses from MapleLens.com Ada Agupitan

Design
They're not the most natural looking of lenses but their design is subtle enough to get away with wearing them without makeup that's too heavy. The design is actually quite pixelated and there are times when it just turns me off, but the pixelation of this design makes the lenses blend a lot better into my naturally dark brown eyes. The limbal ring on this one is also quite thick, so while they're only 14.2 mm they still have that very very subtle enlargement to them.

Review on GEO Angel Grey (CM 835) Contact Lenses from MapleLens.com Ada Agupitan

I wouldn't call these lenses "dolly" because they don't give you that dolly-doe eyed look, but they're perfect for that chic fashion statement when you just want a little bit of oomph in your makeup for the day.

I apologize for the lack of window/natural light shots for this review. The weather's been ridiculously bad these days and even in midday it feels like it's six o'clock in the evening. So I've had to deal with flash lighting for this entire post. I can definitely say, however, that the design on these ones are quite striking, even in natural light, without being too vampy or unnatural looking.

Enlargement
You can pretty much tell from the pics that these lenses don't really enlarge the eyes too much, but I actually really like that! Some people prefer their lenses to be a bit on the smaller diameter side and I am definitely one of those people.

The subtle enlargement makes it so that even with very simple makeup (as in the pic below), you can still pull off the look :)

Review on GEO Angel Grey (CM 835) Contact Lenses from MapleLens.com Ada Agupitan

Comfort and Wear
At 38% water content, these lenses are pretty comfy to wear! I didn't feel them all that much on my eyes and they didn't dry out! If you're wondering about the redness of my eyes, however, it's because I had just woken up in the pictures hahaha. I hope you guys don't mind.

I wore these lenses for 5 hours straight with no signs of blurry vision or drying :) Yay for comfy lenses!

I was actually feeling quite Japanese that day with my little odango bun and fluffy gradient Promod wool sweater. I bet this is how those Japanese Pop Magazine models feel hahaha.

Sponsored Review: GEO GRANG GRANG Choco Contact Lenses from MapleLens.com

Sunday, August 11, 2013

Whoo! It feels like ages since I've posted! Well. It actually has been haha.

First off I guess I'd like to thank everybody for supporting me in my endeavor as one of the finalists for Etude House's Pink Artiste 2013! I bagged second and I totally couldn't do it without you!

I was supposed to post a recap of the events plus the ridiculously large haul that came with the prize but I haven't been able to properly consolidate all the pictures or have time to unbag the massiveness of the haul that awaits. But rest assured I'll try to make a post (no matter how late it is) as soon as I possibly can.

This post, will actually be a sponsored review which was delayed because of a mishap in the mail. Customs is really tough here in the Philippines, and a little mishap with the addressing made it a little bit difficult to claim my package, but Alex from MapleLens.com was amazing enough to help me claim my package. Talk about great customer service all the way from Malaysia :) Say hello to these lovely babies!

Contact Lenses from MapleLen.com Review

Yehp! Not one, but two lovely pairs of lenses from the wonderful people at MapleLens.com. They were kind enough to let me choose a pair and send another of their choice for me to review, along with some totes cute lens cases to go with them!

Contact Lenses from MapleLen.com Review

The packaging is phenomenal and everything's packaged safely in bubble wrap. Need I mention how utterly thrilled I am to have some new additions to my growing cute lens case collection?

Contact Lens Case

Both of the lenses they sent me are from GEO and have an authentication code that comes with them. Pretty nifty and legit! They (thankfully) came graded in -1.25 for both my eyes so these are definitely some of my more used lenses :)

GEO Grang Grang Choco HC-246 and GEO Angel Grey CM-835 from MapleLens.com

Today I'll be reviewing the pair of GEO GRANG GRANG CHOCO lenses that they sent me.

GEO Grang Grang Choco HC-246 Circle Big Eye Contact Lens from MapleLens.com Review

Enlargement
Aren't they totally gorgeous? At 14.2 mm they're not overly huge and look rather natural around my dark brown eyes. They're almost an exact match for them with a nice light brown as a second accent tone. And despite being 14.2 mm these give a decent amount of dolly enlargement without needing over-the-top eye makeup. Check out how big these babies can make your eyes look with the picture below!

GEO Grang Grang Choco HC-246 Circle Big Eye Contact Lens from MapleLens.com Review

Color and Design
I almost wish I had gotten the lighter brown variant of these lenses, but then I revert to how natural the dark brown of this design looks on my eyes. The crystal effect it has makes your eyes look  キラ☆キラ (kira-kira) and sparkling. Almost like anime brought to life. Excuse my sudden use of Japanese onomatopoeia - I've been brushing up on my functional Japanese haha.

GEO Grang Grang Choco HC-246 Circle Big Eye Contact Lens from MapleLens.com Review

It might look a little dull, but honestly, this design is right up my alley, and I can wear it with just my usual amount of eyeliner and mascara!

Comfort
These lenses are SUPER comfy. I wore them to a 12 hour convention (I usually don't recommend wearing cosmetic lenses for that long a time) and they didn't dry out at all! I was even quite surprised that I hadn't experienced any blurring of vision or dryness in my eyes. Plus the fact that I got them graded did wonders for my usually poor vision.

Overall Verdict
I am totally in love with these lenses and I've been using them quite often during weekends to spice up my look! They're the perfect natural dark brown appropriate for Asian wear without looking too conspicuous. They're perfect for both the sophisticated classy look as well as that cute youthful dolly look.

GEO Grang Grang Choco HC-246 Circle Big Eye Contact Lens from MapleLens.com Review

What do you guys think?

You can find these lenses over at MapleLens.com so go ahead and check them out!

I'll be back with a post on the other pair of lenses I received soon! As well as a recap post of my Etude Haul and Experience! Not to mention a long awaited giveaway. So keep watch for that!

Review: Mixty Missy Contact Lenses in PINK, GREY and GREEN

Sunday, July 21, 2013

Hey guys! Hope you're adjusting to my new sched of blogging. From now on, I'll be posting once a week until my schedule frees up. Being in senior year of college is stuff and there is only so much I can do that is humanly possible. If only I were an alien, or better yet a Time Lady (I've been a bit Doctor Who obsessed lately).

That aside, I finally have the time these awesome pairs of lenses that I won from a giveaway held by SPECIALLENS™ Cosmetic Lens Center. And here are the fruits of my not-so-labor.

Mixty Missy 16 mm Contact Lens PINK GREY GREEN Speciallens review

I was fortunate enough to win 3 pairs of their new stocks of Mixty Missy Contact Lenses and had a chance to choose 3 out of 6 colors available. Having been wearing brown lenses for quite a while now, I thought I'd try stepping out of my comfort zone a little bit, so I chose pairs in PINK, GREY and GREEN.

Mixty Missy 16 mm Contact Lens PINK GREY GREEN Speciallens review

Aren't they just beautiful? I also had the option of having them graded, so I got all of them at -1.25 to suit my myopia x_x

Mixty Missy 16 mm Contact Lens PINK GREY GREEN Speciallens review

These Mixty Missy contact lenses designed by VASSEN (along with other reputed and certified brands) distributed by SPECIALLENS, so you can go ahead and check them out :)

Design
The design of the Mixty Missy Contact Lenses is pretty simple: single toned color with dot gradation into a thin limbal ring. At first glance, there isn't really much to look at and the way I describe it is pretty dull, but it actually has a really nice effect on the eyes.

Mixty Missy 16 mm Contact Lens PINK GREY GREEN Speciallens review

I particularly like the thin limbal ring that fades into color because it gives my eyes less of a vamp-y look.  It also lets quite a lot of your natural eye color shine through, so for people who are looking for total color coverage this might not be what you're looking for. But for those who are looking to give their natural eye color a secondary accent, this really does the trick!

Mixty Missy 16 mm Contact Lens PINK GREY GREEN Speciallens review

All three colors go particularly well with my brown-toned eyes. PINK gives my eyes a cute girly accent to them and really makes my neutral eye makeup pop. GREEN is definitely the most vibrant of the three and offers amazing color pay-off. Out of the three, however, my favorite is definitely GREY because of how natural it looks on me. Almost more natural than some of my other brown lenses.

Enlargement
These lenses are a whopping 16.0 mm. You heard me, SIXTEEN MILLIMETERS. That's more than a centimeter and a half of lens covering your friggin' eye. So it wouldn't be a surprise that these babies give you maximum dolly enlargement.

Mixty Missy 16 mm Contact Lens PINK GREY GREEN Speciallens review

As you can see, they make my irises look a lot larger, but they don't look too unnatural, probably because of the thin limbal ring. That's probably what you should look for if you're trying to pass lenses off as more natural looking. Lenses with thicker outer rings tend to look more cartoon-y and I tend to stay away from those.

All in all, despite the fact that I'm not a huge fan of overly enlarged eyes, I actually quite appreciate these -- they even seem wearable with not-so-heavy makeup.

And for people who aren't fond of these colors, these lenses are also available in blue, brown and purple.

Comfort and Wear
I'll be honest. When I took these lenses out of their vials, I was visibly scared - terrified actually. I had never tried such large lenses before and I was dubious as to whether they would even fit my eyes. But 'lo and behold, I got them in my eyes in a breeze! They were honestly a comfort to wear.

I actually had a little mishap putting in one of my lenses on backwards, but even then, they were soft enough not to cause so much irritation (people, don't make the mistake of doing this).

With 42% water content, I only experienced some drying after 3 or so hours of wear, which is normal for my eyes, even with eye drops. I didn't experience any blurry vision or dizziness, and because the field of vision offered by the lenses is quite wide, no obstruction either.

Certification
According to the lens descriptions on SPECIALLENS's site, these lenses are CE safety certified, KFDA approved and produced under ISO International Standards quality control. I haven't experienced any problems as of yet, but always take care to observe proper cleaning and care with your lenses to avoid irritation.

So overall, I'm absolutely in love with these lenses. What do you guys think? Which color is your favorite?

June 2013 Wishlist: Shoes, Cosmetics, Lenses, etc

Sunday, June 02, 2013

Whew! It's been ages since I've been able to make a wishlist post like this haha. There hasn't really been much that I've been wanting for the past few months because of all the blessings I've been fortunate enough to receive from my wonderful sponsors, friends and family.

I'm very appreciative of everything I've received, and even a few of the things from my past wishlists have happily been crossed off :) Remember a while back when I wished for more readers/blog friends? Now I've been blessed with 400+ of you guys :P I honestly don't know what I've done to deserve this but thinking about it just brings tears to my eyes :P

I know wishlists aren't exactly always met, but hey, I thought I needed an extra boost of wishful thinking in my posts so I'm bringing this segment back :P Hopefully I'll be able to maintain it :P Also, my usual wishlists aren't this long. It's just that I haven't done one in so long that they've sort of piled up x_x

Shoes
First up is mostly shoes. I wasn't able to blog about this last time, but our house was recently robbed, and along with the thief went some of my more expensive shoes, jewelry, perfumes and some of my electronics. *Sadface* These are a few of the pairs that I've been eye-ing lately.

#1 Nature Breeze Amani Studded Two Tone Lace-Up HI-Top Sneakers in CORAL or SEA GREEN. #2 Nature Breeze Gwen-01 Hi-Top Sea Green Vintage Lace-Up Military Ankle Boots. #3 Nature Breeze Halston-01 High-Top Fashion Ankle Lace-Up Boot Sneakers in TAN or RED. #4 Nature Breeze Gwen-02 Hi-TopBoots RED Floral Multi.

#1 Nature Breeze Amani Studded Two Tone Lace-Up HI-Top Sneakers in CORAL or SEA GREEN. These babies just look gorgeous. I was planning on getting some wedge sneakers but I thought that in the long run, some flat shoes would do more for me in terms of everyday use. I saw these shoes available on Amazon, Make Me Chic and locally available at Luxury Mall. I'm leaning towards CORAL and then SEA GREEN but if I'm not mistaken, these are also available in colors Tan and Grey.

#2 Nature Breeze Gwen-01 Hi-Top Sea Green Vintage Lace-Up Military Ankle Boots. Perfect for the impending rainy season to come IMO. I know that since they're lace-up, technically they're not waterproof  but galoshes are just way too stuffy to wear throughout an entire day. I'm loving the Doc Marten's style it's going for and in Sea Green, it's the perfect balance of sport and girly chic. Available at Make Me Chic and locally at Luxury Mall.

#3 Nature Breeze Halston-01 High-Top Fashion Ankle Lace-Up Boot Sneakers in TAN or RED. These have been on my wishlist for ages. I first saw them on the Luxury Mall page but they've since been unavailable. Now I've been stalking everywhere for them because they are my ALL-TIME FAVORITE style of shoes. I've found these lovelies for sale at Ebay. Please do tell me if you guys find anywhere else that it's available for cheaper.

And lastly for shoes, surprise surprise, another set of shoes from Nature Breeze.

#4 Nature Breeze Gwen-02 Hi-TopBoots RED Floral Multi. These are pretty similar to #2 but come in this girly floral pattern and instead of Patent, are apparently made of leatherette/fabric. They're less severe-looking so they're more pairable with girly outfits that I tend to wear. These are available at Amazon, Make Me Chic (in other colors as well) and locally at Luxury Mall.

Cosmetics
I haven't really been wanting much in the realm of cosmetics, but I'm almost out of my favorite BB Cream from FairyDrops, which I use as an alternative to foundation on special occasions only. I'm planning on repurchasing, for use on a daily basis now, so I've been on the scout for a replacement "special occasion" foundation haha. Aside from that, a few things on this list are whimsical wants lol.

#1 ARTDECO Refillable Double Finish Foundation in #8 Medium Cashmere or #4 Late Summer Beige. #2 ARTDECO Long-Lasting Foundation Oil-Free SPF20.#3 The FACE Shop CC Cream Smart Capsule. 4 FairyDrops Platinum Mascara Water Proof.

#1 ARTDECO Refillable Double Finish Foundation in #8 Medium Cashmere or #4 Late Summer Beige. The ARTDECO display at my local BeautyBar totally caught my eye. They have a pretty legit selection and IMO, from swatching, their base makeup and foundations are pretty exceptional. This Double Finish compact in particular caught my attention because the texture is pretty creammy but on your skin it settles with a matte powdery finish that doesn't cake at all. In other words, MAGIC lol. From first impression it also has some pretty decent coverage so I'm really looking forward to trying this out some day.
http://www.artdeco.de/en/makeup/face/foundation/double-finish.html

#2 ARTDECO Long-Lasting Foundation Oil-Free SPF20. The name really says it all. They actually have a huge selection of other types of foundation, but this one seemed to settle best on my skin and the lady at the counter said it was perfect for the Philippine heat. It's also available in a decent amount of shades so I'm pretty sure anyone can find a color match with this one. My tone in particular is leaning toward #18 Sweet Honey, but I find that when I'm on one of my more anemic days (yes, I have mild anemia TT_TT), #25 Light Cognac suits me better.
http://www.artdeco.de/en/makeup/face/foundation/long-lasting-foundation-oil-free-spf-20.html

#3 The FACE Shop CC Cream Smart Capsule. After trying out my first CC Cream, I think I'm ready to try out some other variants. I swatched this one at my nearest local FACE Shop and this looked absolutely lovely on my skin with less of a dewy finish than that of Tony Moly's Luminuous Pure Aura CC Cream. It also smelled absolutely lovely and was a lot less heavy. I might actually get this in the future, but for now it shall remain on my wishlist.

#4 FairyDrops Platinum Mascara Water Proof. I'm a huge fan of FairyDrops' Volume Burst Mascara so when I heard that the Platinum variant would be available in the Phil I was totally ecstatic. I'm just waiting for my original tube of mascara to finish and I'm grabbing this one. But I'm gonna need to burst a huge hole in my wallet for this since the Philippine markup is pretty sad D: Anyone know where I can get it cheaper? D:

Next up is Circle Lenses
I've been pretty into trying out circle lenses lately and a few of my favorite ones are expiring in a few months so I'm on the hunt for some new ones. Most of the ones that I've been trying have been brown. And while they all look pretty natural, I found that brown lenses tend to wash my skintone out, especially when I'm on my bouts of low blood pressure x_x

So now I'm thinking some grey lenses might do the trick. At the same time, I've been looking for some low-diameter lenses that I could probably use for daily wear because the larger diameter lenses require much heavier eye makeup and I just don't have the time for that every day D: So these are a few grey, low-diameter lenses that I've been eyeing.

Forgive me if the names are wrong (and feel free to correct me in the comments if I am!). Contact Lens nomenclature confuses me haha.

#1 Barbie Crystal Grey #2 GEO Nudy Grey #3 Puffy 3-Tones Grey #4 GEO Angel Grey Circle Contact Lenses

#1  Barbie Crystal Grey. This one, out of the four, stands out with its design and is the one I'm most inclined to. It's print is pretty vivid without being too detailed to make it look unnatural. And it apparently looks really natural on the model and still hides/blends well into darker brown eyes.

#2 GEO Nudy Grey. These ones aren't as vivid (or maybe it's just the picture that I've found). It's not completely grey on the inside and apparently it lets some of your natural color shine through. I'm pretty curious how my dark brown eyes will look blending into pale grey LOL

#3 Puffy 3-Tones Grey. I have the Brown Variant of this lens and I'm totally in love with it! It's the most natural looking of all my lenses but still manages to make my eyes look special LOL. Only problem is, like I said, when my skin tends to be more yellow it highlights it way too much. So I'm really curious how the grey version will look on me.

#4 GEO Angel Grey. This one has the largest black circle around it compared to the three, and from past experience, this tends to make the eyes look more dilated. BUT from reviews, it says that this one isn't very opaque, so the large circle balances off with your natural eye color to make it seem more natural. I'm not entirely sure if that's true, but hey, it's worth a try :P

Next up is Clothes
All of these clothes can be found from the ToFebruary website. They always have the cutest stuff but they're always so expensive TT_TT Most of you might be wondering why they're all jumpers/long sleeved when it's so damn hot in the Philippines. Well, it's because while it may be hot outside, during my long hours of labwork I'm subject to inhumanely cold air conditioning TT_TT. So my rationale is, when it's hot, I can always just take these off. But I'll definitely need something warmer under my labcoat to keep me warm. Plus, I want to be the first molecular biologist to wear a panda on their head while they work LOL.
#1 Panda Head Jacket. #2 Hello Panda Long Sleeves. #3 Angel Wing Jacket.
#1 Panda Head Jacket. Self explanatory. I MEAN LOOK AT IT. IT'S ADORABLE. Plus the hood goes all the way over your head if you want it too. So you can be a legit panda!

#2 Hello Panda Long Sleeves. This just looks so cozy and warm. Plus, if you haven't noticed by now, I totally adore pandas. I prefer the grey one but I wouldn't mind having both haha. I'm pretty sure a guy could get away with wearing this as well, but he'd have to be pretty secure about his sexuality LOL.

#3 Angel Wing Jacket. There's another variant of this where the wings are on the hood, but this one looks way cuter. Plus. It's the one Yunho wore so double the incentive :P

Miscellaneous Wishes
I've been wanting a clipless curling iron (preferrably one with a larger diameter barrel) for more natural looking curls. I can usually curl my hair with my flat iron but it's just such a hassle and the Amika Clipless Curling Irons just make curling hair so much easier.
Amika Clipless Curling Irons
And since school's back next week (wait, did it even end? Stupid summer class). I'm in need of a new bag X_x My other bags just can't withstand the beating I usually give them. I really need to be more gentle with my belongings. This bag from Jatalo is pretty sturdy and in the color Sarape Classic, it just looks perfectly hipster/hippy/vintage, doesn't it? Not to mention that Jatalo donates a years' worth of schoolbooks to sponsored children for every purchase on one bag. So you're not only making my wish come true if you get me this, you're making another kid's wish come true as well :) YAY FOR GOOD DEEDS!
Jatalo Backpack in Serape Classic

And that's pretty much it.

Well, actually there is one more thing. If you've been reading this blog for long, most of you would know, because DAMN, I keep incessantly plugging it, but I'm in the running to be Etude House Philippines' Pink Artiste for the year of 2013. It's probably one of my biggest wishes to be able to win because not only do I love the brand, I also honestly think that I'd be good at it. So if you have time, it would really really mean a lot to me if you could check out and like my facebook entry by clicking the linked picture below and hitting 'like'. 1 Like=1 Vote for me, so every like counts. Most of you might be sick of my plugging by now, but it would really mean a lot to me :)

Please and Thank You!

I hope you enjoyed this post. Tell me if there's anything up in the list that you too have been wanting, or if you've tried anything from the list, or any of your other whimsical wishes. Let's all be wishful together! Haha.

Review: EOS Starry Brown from Iszo Circle Lens

Thursday, May 16, 2013

Hey guys! I'm back with another circle lens review! These lenses were sent to me by the lovely people at Iszo Circle Lens to review. I was originally interested in the Princess Nudy collection but because of availability, the Neko from Iszo recommended to me these EOS Starry Brown circle lenses as I was looking for some lenses that were natural looking but also noticeable at the same time.

EOS Starry Brown from Iszo Circle Lens Review

The lenses only took twelve days to get here to my doorstep so I can pretty much say that the shipping and processing is speedy and efficient! Plus the lenses came in this cute little packaging.

EOS Starry Brown from Iszo Circle Lens Review

It's not in a box, so I'm not sure how safe this will be for shipment to places farther away than Asia but the bubble wrap inside did a pretty good job of keeping the lens vials safe :) The lenses came with a nifty and convenient lens case which I've been using for my normal prescription lenses recently.

EOS Starry Brown from Iszo Circle Lens Review

Specifications
I got my lenses graded (-1.25 for both eyes). The specifications on the site peg these lenses to be 14.8 mm in diameter with a base curve of 8.6 mm. But when I got the vial, I found that the base curve of the lenses was actually 8.8 mm, a whole 0.2mm more concave than my usual base curved lenses, which was a tad bit worrying.

EOS Starry Brown from Iszo Circle Lens Review

Color
EOS Starry Brown from Iszo Circle Lens Review

What can I say? It does look rather natural with its light hazel brown undertone and it blends quite well into my dark brown eyes. The outer rim is a slightly darker chestnut brown as it fades into its second tone of a more goldenrod-ish brown.

EOS Starry Brown from Iszo Circle Lens Review

You can tell by the picture above that the lens itself is rather flimsy because of the wider base curve (meaning it's more round than usual. This affects lens wear DRASTICALLY as I'll discuss below.

Comfort
I'll just say that these lenses were not as comfortable to wear as other lenses that I've tried. The wider base curve made them extremely difficult to put on as they would not adhere to the surface of my eye due to lack of surface tension. It's sort of like trying to fit a b-cup into a c-cup if you know what I mean. Because it was more convex that the actual curve of my eye, only the outer part of the lenses would stick to my eye and there'd be this thin empty bubble of air between the lens and my eye, making it rather difficult to wear, and sometimes, it'd even pop out on its own D: In other words, the fit is very loose :(

I don't think I'd be able to wear this for a long time or outside the realm of photoshoots. And it's such a shame as well because I absolutely LOVE the color and the effect it has on my eyes.

Enlargement and Wear
EOS Starry Brown from Iszo Circle Lens Review

It really is such a shame that these lenses don't wear as comfortably as others. They look absolutely stunning on my eyes and suit my skin quite well, don't you think? Also, the 14.8 mm diameter makes my eyes look more awake and dolly with a more natural flare to them because of the iris design.

EOS Starry Brown from Iszo Circle Lens Review

So all in all these lenses are amazing for their cute design, but I won't be able to make the most of them because the base curve doesn't match the base curve of my eyes (8.5-8.6mm). It's such a pity.

That being said, if you still love the design and don't have much trouble with 8.8 mm base curve lenses, you can check out the Iszo's other designs here! This variant of lens is carried in four other colors on their site and there are a lot more to choose from as well! If you're interested, feel free to check out their selection by clicking the banner below!

Review: DollyEye Puffy 3Tones Brown Lens [UNIQSO]

Friday, April 26, 2013

Hey guys! I'm back with another contact lens review post! The awesome people at UNIQSO were kind enough to send me some Big-Eye Color Lenses (eye-enlargement lenses) to review! UNIQSO is an online shop which specializes in contact lenses, makeup accessories and the like. You can learn more about them by checking out my post about them over here.

The pair of lenses I'll be reviewing today are none other than the Dolly Eye Puffy 3 Tones Brown. They have a wonderfully natural iris-graphic design with a 3-gradient tone of dark brown to hazel to a nice subtle pink near the pupil! These lenses are made in Korea by a brand called DueBa but are individually distributed by different sources and then sold by 3rd or 2nd party shops like UNIQSO.

Specifications
These lenses are available in six different colorsbrown, blue, green, grey, pink and violet, all of which are absolutely beautiful. The lenses have a base curve of 8.6mm and a diameter of 14.5mm -just enough to give you that subtle and natural enlarging effect.

The 3-toned-ness of the lenses, combined with the iris graphic design actually makes the lenses look rather natural, despite their enlarging effect!

Delivery and Packaging

UNIQSO is an expert at packaging their lenses. They come in these cute little boxes, along with a free basic lens case and a q-tip for miscellaneous cleaning (not pictured). The bubble wrap keeps the lenses nice, snug and safe all throughout the shipping process. My lenses came in approximately 3 weeks, but that's mostly because Philippine Customs has some serious issues. But on UNIQSO's side, they were very speedy with shipping and tracking!

 Color, Design, Enlargement and Comfort
Like I said earlier, I'm absolutely in love with how natural these lenses look on my eyes. My eyes are naturally dark brown, and these lenses complement their shade perfectly so that the 3-toned-gradient blends perfectly with my natural eye color. The color also manages to complement my natural skin tone quite well!

In natural light, the lenses look almost like my natural eye color, but with added flare. The pink in the middle really draws attention to the eyes and adds a pop of color to the overall look. Where enlargement is concerned, it's obvious from the above pictures how well these lenses do in that department. Additionally, because of the shape and size of my entire eye in general, even just a small increase in the diameter immediately makes my eyes look larger. I immediately look more awake and alert after wearing these. In a more poetic way of saying things, these lenses give me that pefectly natural doe-eyed-dolly look.

Though the design isn't as exciting as the EOS Flower 2-Tone Blue Lenses, I think these lenses are sufficiently bubbly and cute while still managing to look absolutely natural. Where comfort is concerned, the Dolly Eye Puffy 3-Tones Brown has 38% water content which is somewhat standard with fashion lenses. Despite the the lenses being larger than what I'm used to, these were a breeze to wear and I did not feel any irritation at all! You can see that compared to my other lens reviews, the redness in my eyes with these lenses is comparatively less. While you can definitely feel that you're wearing lenses while you have these on, it's not exactly distracting. You forget you're wearing them after a while. I did have some difficulty inserting them into my eyes though haha. It's probably just my incompetence though :P

If I had the capability of recoding my genetic makeup, this is probably the eye color I would give myself haha. It looks sufficiently exciting and unorthodox without being too overbearing. They're also absolutelyperfect for Big Dolly Eyes.

I got my lenses graded -1.25 on both sides and I think it's worth noting that the lenses were perfectly graded. I've had some experiences where lenses sometimes interfere with my peripheral vision and I get dizzy with inconsistent grading, but I'm glad I didn't experience that with these lenses :)

The Verdict
Color - 5/5: Completely natural, but not boring
Design - 4/5: Simple natural looking iris design
Comfort - 4/5: Comfortable to wear but you can still feel you're wearing them
Enlargement -5/5: Enlarges and makes my eyes look more alert
Final 4.5/5
