Collective Haul: Tony Moly, Etude House, etc

Monday, May 13, 2013

Yay, so I'm back with a new haul to celebrate the almost-end of my summer semester haha. I really should stop therapeutic shopping, but in the long run, these are all stuff that I've been wanting to try for the longest time haha. Tsk tsk, reasons reasons.

That being said, I have a few treats from Tony Moly, Etude House and guess what -- CDR-King. Haha. You weren't expecting that last one, were you?

So let's get this ball rolling.

Tony Moly
I got a few products from Tony Moly recently and I was quite fortunate when I went considering everything I was looking for was actually in-stock. The service was impeccable, as usual. Check out the stuff I got below.

I've actually been looking into widening my collection of lip products. Recently I've been living off my Etude Cupcake All Over Colors and my Tony Moly Berry Lovely Girl Dual Lip Liner #3 to mix and match but they're not really the best choice for long-lasting wear. I've been eyeing a few particular stains every now and then and in the end I decided to go ahead and try Tony Moly's range of lip stains after seeing a few reviews on them.

The first on my haul is their Milky Tint in #2 Milky Peach.

I'm used to seeing bright neon pink or red-violet tints on the market in both Korean and U.S. brands, and while I'm aware that a lot of other Korean brands carry orange tints, this one in particular caught my eye with its simple packaging, and when I swatched it in the store it seemed rather natural looking compared to the other orange tints I've swatched. I'm still iffy about the product and I'm not entirely blown away by it so a few more uses and a final review will tell whether or not I really love this product.

On the same not, I went for a safer buy with one of Tony Moly's best sellers, Cat Chu Wink Tony Tint in #3 Orange Cha Cha.

On my previous visits to Tony Moly, I've always seen this on display with limited stock, but in the other color variants which are more red. I'm definitely not a huge fan of glaringly red lips, but a nice bright orange seems to complement my skin tone quite nicely and I hear that the lasting power on this thing is amazing, albeit rather drying. But I've been giving my lips major rehab for a month and a half now and they're practically baby soft. Just a bit of maintenance and this should do pretty well on my lips. Watch out for a review!

Last but not least, and probably the product I'm most excited about from Tony Moly is their Luminous Pure Aura CC Cream. I know I'm late, but this will mark my first CC Cream purchase ever and whether or not this does well on my skin will probably be the basis of a lot of future reviews to come. Aren't you guys super excited? I know I am haha.

With those three purchases I manged to snag a pretty awesome freebie -- a JYJ mouse pad haha. It'll go quite splendidly with my SHINee mouse pad from Etude and the JYJ poster I got from a while back lol.

Etude House
I think this might be the last of my purchases from Etude House for a while hahaha. I am now satisfied with my semi-complete collection of Sweet Recipe Collection products and since I'm not really into all of the eye shadows and other lipsticks from the line, these three buggers right here are all I really wanted and then some.

Etude House Korean Cosmetics Haul

The first thing I got from Etude was their Sweet Recipe Line My Jelly Lips Talk in JOR202.

The bullet of the lipstick can be quite deceiving for people who don't swatch before buying. At first glance it looks like a rather light peachy-orange, but when swatched and exposed to heat actually changes its color to a light sheer-pink orange. In that sense it's actually more like a very moisturizing balm-y magic lipstick crossed with a stain. Because yes, this stuff actually acts like a stain! I love this stuff for long wear that isn't drying, but I find that on some occasions, it leaves my lips brighter than I'd like haha. I'll talk more about this on a review later on.

Next up is the baby brother of my Baby Choux Base in Berry Choux - meet Baby Choux Base in Peach Choux.

Now, I know it may be a bit redundant to have gotten this, but I'm quite happy I did! This matches my yellow toned skin a lot better than the Berry Choux (which I now use as a base highlight for brightening) and at the same time, I prefer the scent of this one a lot better! as opposed to Berry Choux which has a sugary berry smell, this one smells like canned apricots - one of my fave snacks ever haha. Totally love this. I'm not entirely sure if I should still do a review of this, considering I've made a review of its other variant before, but please tell me if you still want a review on this. I'll be glad to oblige!

And last but not list on the Etude list is one of the things I've been using non-stop recently - Sweet Recipe Chocolate Highlighter.

I'll be honest. I've never been a highlight girl. I've always been more of the contour type, but this single-handedly changed my mind. It's probably just my inexperience with highlighters in general, but I really love the fine shimmer on this. and the 3 tones are perfect to mix and match depending on what type of intensity you want to highlight on your face. And combined they give a natural flush of light to the planes of your face for that dewy (but not oily!) look. I'll definitely be doing a highlight/contour tutorial using this very soon so watch out!

CDR-King
Surprise, surprise! What the heck is a non-makeup brand doing in this haul anyway? For those of you not from the Philippines, CDR-King is a cheap computer/electronics supply store. But recently it's expanded to include anything from USB Refridgerators, Aquariums, Furniture knick-knacks, luggage, games, stationary, ceramics, jewelry and basically everything.

It's not exactly a surprise then that I manged to find these absolutely adorable contact lens kits for a huge steal of 60PHP each.
CDR-King Contact Lens Care Kits and Cases

The kits all come with a reasonably sized mirror, a contact lens case, a bottle for multi-purpose solution, some lens tongs and an applicator rod. Of course you need to wash all of this prior to using to make sure it's all clean, but this just makes traveling and on-the go lens cargo so much easier. My lens collection is quickly expanding so I felt the need to get more than one. I'll probably giving one away though, since four seems like overkill haha. But who knows?

Hahaha I think it's probably because it's my first time trying a legit CC Cream, but I'm totally blown away LOL. Details in a review next time I guess.

I'm only really starting to get into lip tints now. My lips have never really been in the ideal condition to try them, but after much rehab, I can actually wear tints without looking like I just ravaged a rabbit carcass x_X plus I finally found some pretty good orange shades! The usual red-violet or blood red tints don't suit me at all D:

Thanks for dropping by again Amanda!

I'm currently trying the milky tint! It's a very subtle but noticeable type of tint. Definitely different from a lot of tints out there :) Thanks for dropping by! I'll try to have the review up ASAP. :)

Etude is definitely widening their horizizons. After franchising in asia I'm sure they'll want to expand to europe as well! Meanwhile their awesome stuff is available for pre order on a lot of shops online :)
