Props to all the actors and actresses and might I say Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska, Crispin Glover and Alan Rickman were all incredible. But the way the story went sorta made it seem like Tim Burton and his writers were all drunk while watching Narnia when they came up with this.
They focused WAYYYYYY too much on the mad hatter and the implied romance between Alice and the Hatter sorta freaked me out a bit.
What really sorta irked me was how I was expecting a fantasmical retelling of an age-old tale which we have all come to love. There was Disney's first animated film, and there was the Hallmark Alice in Wonderland which left me breathless as a child, and Tim Burton just sorta kinda had to ruin it for me.
I have to admit that it was a good re-imagining of the tale. I just felt like it lost all the oomph that it had. And by the end of the film, I was left thinking: "Okay, where did all the good stuff go?"
The child within me is dead now D:
The only remedy is Toy Story 3 in June. Hopefully that won't be as much of a disappointment as well. (LOL, btw, Rob Patt has a new movie coming up as well. It looks sappy and gross, like his icky stuble)
I'm gonna go drown myself in the 1999 Alice in Wonderland now. I suggest you all join me.
